Soluna's Kati 1 project has reached 83 megawatts by deploying Galaxy Bitcoin mining rigs.
Galaxy Moves Mining Rigs to Soluna Site, Helios Transitions to AI
According to an announcement shared with Bitcoin.com News, this deployment involves relocating mining rigs previously operating at Galaxy's Helios campus in Texas Plains. Galaxy is transitioning its Helios facility to artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC) applications.
This move follows Galaxy's provision of debt financing to Soluna in Q1 2025. The new agreement expands their relationship into an operational partnership. The initial 35 MW phase of Project Kati 1 is currently under construction and is scheduled to begin this summer.
Soluna stated that the first phase is expected to be operational in Q1 2026. Galaxy's 48 MW deployment will be activated in phases in Q1 and Q2 2026. Once completed, Galaxy will also be the first customer to begin mining on Project Kati 1.
Soluna disclosed that it will provide turnkey power infrastructure and operations for the Galaxy deployment. According to the team, the 48 MW agreement represents Soluna's largest single-partner deployment to date. Soluna recently completed a 30 MW deployment with another Bitcoin mining company. Soluna CEO John Belizaire stated that the partnership demonstrates the company's ability to scale its modular data center approach to meet demand. Galaxy's Head of Business Development, Sam Kiernan, confirmed that the relocation is part of Helios's transition from Bitcoin mining.
"With the continued surge in demand for hyperscale miners, Soluna is scaling up to meet this moment," Belizaire noted.
Once Galaxy's miners are fully deployed at Project Kati 1, Soluna expects its total operational capacity across all sites to reach 206 MW. This site utilizes reduced renewable energy sources.
